ADNOC says 15 of its vessels have been attacked by Iranian missiles or drones since the start of the war, including three this week, underscoring the continued risks to commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz. According to ADNOC, one crew member has been killed and 20 others injured as the company works to keep crude oil, LNG and refined products flowing despite repeated attacks. Before the war, the Strait of Hormuz carried roughly 20% of global oil consumption, but vessel attacks have driven up insurance and freight costs while discouraging some shipowners from entering the Persian Gulf. Despite the security environment, ADNOC is expanding its fleet, announcing the acquisition of 11 VLCC and VLGC vessels worth approximately $1.3 billion to support future export capacity.
